Haldane PTA Committees

Committees are an important part of the PTA, helping make our many programs and services possible. Committee leaders and members work with the administration and community, establishing clear objectives and directly supporting the students. Both standing and special committees are always looking for additional help and resources. We are always looking for volunteers.

Class Parents

The Class Parents Committee coordinates Class Parents, who are liaisons between classrooms and parents, assisting teachers with such tasks as the organization of class parties, special projects, field trips and Kindergarten snack rotations.

Garden

The Haldane School Garden is a living “outdoor classroom” where students K-12 engage in hands-on, project-based learning. It serves as a natural space for scientific inquiry, a place where students routinely observe, investigate and hypothesize how the natural world functions.

PTA Tech Help

The Tech Support Committee is here to assist families with technology needs related to distance learning and virtual classrooms. The Committee will work closely with the school district to make sure families have the technology and resources they need to contribute to successful remote learning environments.

Enrichment

The Enrichment Committee offers a selection of after-school enrichment classes in six or eight week sessions. Classes are taught by local instructors and Haldane teachers, and offerings vary from session to session. Past programs have included chess club, language instruction, guitar, science, and art.

Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

The EDI Committee aims to support students on their journey towards self-understanding and compassion for others by increasing kindness, service to the community and preparation to be courageous citizens, moving beyond tolerance, towards a fuller commitment to human dignity.

Get Out The Vote

The Get Out the Vote Committee communicates to the public when there are important elections to be held at the school, including budget votes, Board of Education seats and special elections.  We believe that maximum participation in our elections benefits everyone.

Heartfelt

The Heartfelt Committee offers aid to students and their families who may be suffering due to illness, death, or other family crises.  Committee members organize meal donations and other courtesies to assist those in need.

Book Fair

In cooperation with local and national partners the PTA sponsors fall and spring book fairs for the Elementary & Middle Schools. The book fairs serve both as fundraisers and as opportunities to bring students quality books at reduced cost.  The committee is responsible for coordinating with the book vendor and running the book-selling event over several days.  Committee members set up and break down the displays and serve as cashiers.

Learning Differences

This joint committee between the PTAs of Haldane and GUFS gives parents, teachers, and administrators a forum in which to partner around identifying and supporting learning issues common in our schools and communities. Equity and inclusion are core tenets of the LD committee, with a focus on neurodiversity and disability rights. LDC works to educate against the discrimination and stigma often associated with difference in all its myriad forms: visible and invisible, physical and neurological. We work to ensure that ALL students and families are not only seen, heard, and included in our shared communities but can thrive.
